About Jummah Prayer
Jummah (Arabic: جُمُعَة) is the Friday congregational prayer and sermon (Khutbah). It is obligatory for Muslim men and replaces Dhuhr prayer on Fridays. The Quran commands: "O you who believe! When you are called to prayer on Friday, hasten to the remembrance of Allah and leave all business." (Quran 62:9)
Jummah consists of two Khutbahs (sermons) delivered by the Imam, followed by two Rak'ahs of prayer. Most UK mosques hold Jummah between 12:30 PM and 2:00 PM. Larger mosques may hold multiple congregations.
