About Masjide Noorul Islam (Blackburn)

The Islamic Educational Society of Blackburn was set up in 1967 with 50 members. It soon turned a terraced house at 40 Lambeth Street into a mosque and madrasah called Masjide Noorul Islam, one of the first mosques in Blackburn.

When that area was due for demolition, the society bought a warehouse at 108 Audley Range. It opened as a mosque in 1978 and was extended in 1984. Work on a new purpose-built mosque began in September 2007, and it opened in July 2010. It has prayer space for 1,500 in two halls, ladies' facilities and a lift.
