About Didsbury Mosque & Islamic Centre
Didsbury Mosque and Islamic Centre occupies a converted Victorian Methodist chapel on Wilmslow Road in the leafy suburb of Didsbury, south Manchester. The building — with its distinctive Gothic stonework — was acquired by the local Muslim community in the 1960s and has served as a mosque ever since, making it one of the oldest Islamic centres in Greater Manchester.
The mosque is widely respected for its open, welcoming ethos and its long-running programme of interfaith dialogue and community engagement. It regularly hosts open days, mosque tours and community events attended by people of all faiths and backgrounds. Didsbury Mosque serves a diverse congregation that reflects the cosmopolitan character of south Manchester, and provides five daily prayers, multiple Friday Jumu'ah sessions, Islamic education, a madrasah and support for new Muslims.
