About Greenbank Masjid
The building was designed by Bristol architect Frank Wills and opened in 1902 as Castle Green Congregational Church, the successor to a nonconformist congregation that had met near Bristol Castle since the 17th century. It later joined the United Reformed Church, and its final service was held in September 2008.
The building was then bought by the Easton Islami Darasgah and reopened as Greenbank Masjid. The mosque reports more than 300 regular Friday worshippers and a madrassah of around 100 pupils, and work to refurbish its women's prayer hall began in 2024.
