About Jami Mosque & Islamic Centre (Small Heath)
The centre was founded by members of Birmingham's Bangladeshi community, who bought 523 Coventry Road in 1972 and opened it as a mosque in 1973. Neighbouring 525 Coventry Road followed in 1975, when the evening maktab began.
The Darul Uloom full-time secondary school for boys started in 1985 and funeral services in 1995. The mosque says its main prayer hall, Jumu'ah hall and other spaces hold up to 1,500 worshippers. It was a founding member of the Islamic Sharia Council.
