About Ghamkol Sharif Masjid

Ghamkol Sharif Masjid in Small Heath is one of the largest mosques in Western Europe and one of the most visually distinctive in the United Kingdom. Built in the traditional South Asian Mughal style, it features a large central golden dome, four tall minarets and ornate green and white detailing inspired by the great mosques of Pakistan.

The mosque was founded as the Birmingham branch of the Ghamkol Sharif Sufi tradition associated with Hazrat Pir Zindapir of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and has served as the Naqshbandi-Mujaddidi spiritual centre for tens of thousands of British Muslims since opening in 1996.

It hosts a very large weekly Jumu'ah congregation, special gatherings during Mawlid, Ramadan and the annual Urs, a busy madrasah, marriage services and a community kitchen serving free meals to worshippers and visitors.
