About Masjid Noor
Masjid Noor says a two-acre site with a small two-storey building was bought in 1979, on land in Pollokshields that had previously held sawmills and wood workshops. The current two-storey red-brick mosque was completed that year.
The mosque is now part-way through a redevelopment designed by Inkdesign Architecture, costed at around £3.6 million, which will extend the building and add car parking. When complete, the mosque says the new centre will hold more than 1,000 people. Wikipedia's list of UK mosques records it as also known as Glasgow Markaz.
