About Madina Masjid (Madina Mosque Trust, Clapton)
Madina Mosque Trust was set up in 1984 by five trustees with support from Hackney's Gujarati Sunni Deobandi community, who had settled in the area from the 1950s. The trust bought a run-down former carpet-cleaning factory, moved in during 1984, and received planning permission for the mosque from Hackney Council in 1985.
The mosque holds up to 2,000 worshippers and says it is full during Ramadan and on both Eids.
