About Shahjalal Mosque & Islamic Centre (Rusholme)
In 1967 Muslims of Bangladeshi origin (then East Pakistan) in Manchester and nearby towns raised money for a mosque of their own. Trustees bought 1A Eileen Grove, Rusholme, a building previously owned by the Maclaren Public Institute, and the mosque opened there soon afterwards.
At a public meeting in May 1975 the building was named Shahjalal Mosque and Islamic Centre, and a committee was formed to draw up its constitution.
