About Leeds Grand Mosque
Leeds Grand Mosque on Woodsley Road was opened in 2003 to serve the Muslim community of Hyde Park, Burley and the wider Leeds area, including a large student population from the University of Leeds and Leeds Beckett University.
The mosque has a striking sandstone façade with twin minarets and a large central dome, and inside features a spacious main prayer hall, a dedicated women's hall, a library and meeting rooms. It runs a long programme of Quran classes, Arabic lessons, lectures, weekend schooling and youth activities.
The mosque is well-known for its hospitality during Ramadan, when it hosts large free iftar meals open to worshippers, students and visitors of all backgrounds.
