About Süleymaniye Mosque
The Süleymaniye Mosque was funded by the UK Turkish Islamic Cultural Centre (UKTICC). According to Wikipedia, construction began in 1994 and the mosque opened to the public in October 1999; the mosque's own website says building work started in 1992 and it opened in 2000.
The six-storey building has a two-floor prayer hall with a women's section, classrooms, a library, a conference and wedding hall and funeral services, and it houses boarding and hifz students. Prince Charles visited the mosque in 2001.
