About Shah Jalal Mosque & Islamic Cultural Centre
The building was designed by architect J. H. Phillips and built in 1899 as a Calvinistic Methodist chapel, later known as Capel Heol y Crwys. It is built of Pennant stone with Bath stone and yellow-brick dressings, in an eclectic Art Nouveau style.
After the chapel closed, the building became an Islamic cultural centre. Cadw's listing gives 1985 for this; Wikipedia gives 1990 for the conversion. It was listed Grade II on 21 August 1997 for its striking and original chapel design.
