About Islamic Centre of England
The Islamic Centre of England was founded in December 1995 and officially opened in November 1998. It occupies the former Maida Vale Picture House, a cinema designed by Edward A. Stone that opened in 1913. The building later became the Carlton Rooms ballroom (1949) and then a bingo club (1961), and it was Grade II listed in 1991.
