About Madrassa Taleem ul Islam

The mosque occupies a villa built in 1878, which was converted into a synagogue in 1928 by the Orthodox Hebrew Congregation of Pollokshields and served that community for over 50 years. The then-vacant building was acquired by the Madrasa Taleem ul Islam Trust in 1988 to serve the growing local Muslim community. A major two-year renovation completed in 2005 preserved the building's character while adding disabled access, extended washroom areas and a distinctive mirror mosaic in the main prayer hall. Alongside the five daily prayers and Friday Jummah, it runs religious education classes attended by over 2,000 students.
