About Jaame Masjid (Blackburn)
Muslims who settled in Blackburn in the early 1960s set up Jaame Masjid in 1962 in two terraced houses. It became the first mosque in Lancashire and is known as the central mosque of Blackburn.
The mosque has been extended several times and a madrasah was added. In 1996 an expansion project was launched to let the mosque hold up to 3,000 people.
