About Masjid Umar (Evington)
Masjid Umar was built in 2000 on the site of two houses, paid for almost entirely by the local Muslim community in Evington. It was shortlisted for the ACE/RIBA Award for Religious Architecture in 2005. The Evington Muslim Education Trust (charity 1196610) also runs a community centre in a converted former pub.
