What happens to Fajr and Isha in northern UK summers?

Updated 2026-07-28

Quick Answer

At high latitudes the sun may not reach 18°/17° below the horizon in midsummer. When that occurs, this site applies a documented one-seventh-of-the-night adjustment for Fajr and Isha and discloses it on the city page — never a silent guess.

In detail

Cities such as Aberdeen, Inverness, Glasgow and Edinburgh are most affected.

London uses the London Unified Prayer Timetable instead of fixed angles, which already addresses the summer twilight problem for the capital.

Full rules are on the methodology page.
