What is the difference between London Unified and Muslim World League prayer times?

Quick Answer

London Unified uses published Fajr and Isha values for London mosques. Muslim World League (MWL) uses fixed angles — Fajr 18°, Isha 17° — and is the default for UK cities outside London and the M25.

In detail

The London Unified Prayer Timetable was agreed so that mosques across the capital pray at the same times. Sunrise, Dhuhr, Asr and Maghrib are derived from sun positions with small published adjustments; Fajr and Isha come from Hizbul Ulama observation tables.

MWL is a valid astronomical method used widely across the UK and the world. On London pages we show it beside London Unified so you can compare the two methods. Individual mosques set their own timetables.

Outside London and the M25, this site defaults to MWL computed locally from each city’s coordinates.
