About Sheffield Grand Mosque (Markazi Jamia)

Sheffield Grand Mosque (Markazi Jamia Masjid) is one of Sheffield's largest and most established mosques, founded in 1965 to serve the city's growing South Asian Muslim community. Located in the Highfield and Heeley areas south of the city centre, it is at the heart of Sheffield's primary Muslim community area.

The mosque provides the five daily prayers, multiple Friday Jumu'ah sessions to accommodate demand, large Eid congregations and taraweeh throughout Ramadan. It runs an attached Islamic school and madrasah offering Quranic and Islamic education for hundreds of children from across Sheffield.

Sheffield's Muslim community is one of the largest in Yorkshire and the mosque plays a central role in pastoral care, community welfare and Islamic education across the city.
