About Dundee Central Mosque
Dundee Central Mosque, opened in its current purpose-built form in 2000, is the principal mosque serving Dundee's Muslim community and one of the most modern purpose-built mosques in Scotland.
The Dundee Muslim community has been present in the city since the 1960s, when South Asian workers settled in Dundee's textile and jute industries. The mosque grew from a small community hall to its current prominent position in the Hilltown area, serving a growing and diverse congregation from across Pakistan, Bangladesh, the Middle East and East Africa.
The mosque provides the five daily prayers, Jumu'ah, Eid congregations and taraweeh throughout Ramadan. It also runs a madrasah for children and is active in interfaith dialogue and civic engagement across Dundee.
