About Bedford Jamia Masjid Ghausia
Jamia Masjid Hanfia Ghousia is a Sunni (Hanafi, Barelvi/Sufi tradition) mosque on Ford End Road in the Queens Park area of Bedford, Bedfordshire. It serves a largely Pakistani-heritage Muslim community in the town, offering the five daily congregational prayers and Friday Jummah prayers, with facilities for both men and women.
The mosque is run by the registered charity Hanfia Ghousia Masjid (Charity Commission number 1142200), whose governing constitution was adopted in March 2010 and later amended in 2011 and 2018. According to its charity record, the mosque provides prayer and worship facilities, organises religious festivals, and offers funeral services in line with the teachings of Islam.
Alongside daily worship, the mosque runs after-school children's Qur'an classes every day, teaching the reading and memorisation of the Qur'an, and works to promote good race and community relations with other communities in Bedford. In more recent years the mosque has been running a fundraising and expansion appeal to develop and enlarge its facilities for the local community.
