Surah al-Qaria describes the Day of Judgement as al-Qaria — the striking calamity — a day when people will be scattered like moths and mountains like fluffed wool. Actions will be weighed on a scale: heavy scales lead to a pleasant life; light scales lead to an abyss.

مَا الْقَارِعَةُ
Ma l-qari'ah
What is the Calamity?
3
وَمَا أَدْرَاكَ مَا الْقَارِعَةُ
Wa ma adraka ma l-qari'ah
And what can make you know what the Calamity is?
4
يَوْمَ يَكُونُ النَّاسُ كَالْفَرَاشِ الْمَبْثُوثِ
Yawma yakunu n-nasu ka-l-farashi l-mabthuth
It is the Day when people will be like moths, dispersed,
5
وَتَكُونُ الْجِبَالُ كَالْعِهْنِ الْمَنفُوشِ
Wa takunu l-jibalu ka-l-'ihni l-manfush
And the mountains will be like wool, fluffed up.
6
فَأَمَّا مَن ثَقُلَتْ مَوَازِينُهُ
Fa-amma man thaqulat mawazinuh
Then as for one whose scales are heavy [with good deeds],
7
فَهُوَ فِي عِيشَةٍ رَّاضِيَةٍ
Fahuwa fi 'ishatin radiyah
He will be in a pleasant life.
8
وَأَمَّا مَنْ خَفَّتْ مَوَازِينُهُ
Wa amma man khaffat mawazinuh
But as for one whose scales are light,
9
فَأُمُّهُ هَاوِيَةٌ
Fa-ummuhu hawiyah
His refuge will be an abyss.
10
وَمَا أَدْرَاكَ مَا هِيَهْ
Wa ma adraka ma hiyah
And what can make you know what that is?
11
نَارٌ حَامِيَةٌ
Narun hamiyah
It is a Fire, intensely hot.
