Surah al-Qadr reveals the night when the Quran was first revealed to the Prophet ﷺ — Laylat al-Qadr, the Night of Power, which is better than a thousand months (83+ years) of worship. It falls in the odd nights of the last ten days of Ramadan.

1

إِنَّا أَنزَلْنَاهُ فِي لَيْلَةِ الْقَدْرِ

Inna anzalnahu fi laylati l-qadr

Indeed, We sent it (the Quran) down during the Night of Power.

2

وَمَا أَدْرَاكَ مَا لَيْلَةُ الْقَدْرِ

Wa ma adraka ma laylatu l-qadr

And what can make you know what the Night of Power is?

لَيْلَةُ الْقَدْرِ خَيْرٌ مِّنْ أَلْفِ شَهْرٍ

Laylatu l-qadri khayrun min alfi shahr

The Night of Power is better than a thousand months.

تَنَزَّلُ الْمَلَائِكَةُ وَالرُّوحُ فِيهَا بِإِذْنِ رَبِّهِم مِّن كُلِّ أَمْرٍ

Tanazzalu l-mala'ikatu wa r-ruhu fiha bi-idhni rabbihim min kulli amr

The angels and the Spirit descend therein by permission of their Lord for every matter.

سَلَامٌ هِيَ حَتَّىٰ مَطْلَعِ الْفَجْرِ

Salamun hiya hatta matla'i l-fajr

Peace it is until the emergence of dawn.
