Surah an-Nas is the last surah in the Quran and the second of the Mu'awwidhatain. It seeks refuge in Allah — as Lord, King and God of all mankind — from the whispers of Shaytan (the devil), who whispers into the hearts of both jinn and men.

Verses (6)

1

قُلْ أَعُوذُ بِرَبِّ النَّاسِ

Qul a'udhu bi-rabbi n-nas

Say, 'I seek refuge in the Lord of mankind,'

مَلِكِ النَّاسِ

Maliki n-nas

The Sovereign of mankind.

3

إِلَٰهِ النَّاسِ

Ilahi n-nas

The God of mankind,

4

مِن شَرِّ الْوَسْوَاسِ الْخَنَّاسِ

Min sharri l-waswasi l-khannas

From the evil of the retreating whisperer

5

الَّذِي يُوَسْوِسُ فِي صُدُورِ النَّاسِ

Alladhi yuwaswisu fi suduri n-nas

Who whispers [evil] into the breasts of mankind —

6

مِنَ الْجِنَّةِ وَالنَّاسِ

Mina l-jinnati wa n-nas

From among the jinn and mankind.
