About Madina Mosque (Cobridge)
Madina Masjid (also rendered "Medina Mosque Stoke") is a Sunni mosque serving the Muslim community of Cobridge in the north of Stoke-on-Trent, on Waterloo Road. The mosque is governed by the charity Medina Mosque Stoke, a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO) registered with the Charity Commission for England and Wales on 20 November 2020 (charity no. 1192457; Companies House CE024312). The charity's registered objects centre on facilitating Muslim ritual prayer and the construction of mosque facilities to provide extended and safer prayer space.
In recent years the mosque acquired a former church building on nearby Grange Street and has been converting it into a masjid. Publicly reported renovation works include a new front entrance, full roofing, wudhu (ablution) areas and toilets, replacement windows and fire exits, rewiring, full plumbing and heating, new internal walls and access points, and new carpets, lighting and fittings. The project was carried out in phases, with an initial fundraising target of £50,000 for phase one followed by a larger appeal for the second phase.
The mosque is listed in established mosque directories under the address 273 Waterloo Road / Legion Club, Cobridge, and is recorded there as following the Sunni–Deobandi tradition with a prayer capacity of around 100. It offers daily congregational prayers and Friday (Jummah) prayers. According to its Charity Commission filing it operates with a small team of trustees and volunteers and modest annual income (total income of £19,047 against expenditure of £21,111 for the financial year ending 31 December 2025).
