About Loughborough Islamic Society

The Islamic Society is a student society of Loughborough Students' Union and is one of the university's largest and most active societies, describing itself as "a home away from home" for Muslim and non-Muslim students alike. Rather than operating its own mosque building, it uses the campus prayer room and ablution facilities in the Centre for Faith and Spirituality on the first floor of the Edward Herbert Building, where weekly Friday (Jummah) congregational prayer is held. The society organises Ramadan and Eid provisions, charity fundraising, Islamic classes and social events, and works with the University Chaplaincy to provide extended prayer-room access during Ramadan.
