About Hull Central Mosque
Hull Mosque & Islamic Centre, located at 2 Berkeley Street in the Spring Bank area of Hull (HU3), is the main mosque serving the city's Muslim community. It is a branch of the UK Islamic Mission (UKIM), a national Islamic organisation, and is also publicly branded as "Hull Mosque & Islamic Centre UKIM". Multiple directory sources date its establishment to 1984.
The centre operates as both a place of daily worship and a wider community hub. Alongside the five daily congregational prayers and Friday Jummah, it runs a Madrassah (Islamic supplementary school) for children and Halaqah study circles, and provides religious and social services including Nikah (marriage) ceremonies and funeral (janazah) arrangements.
Community-facing activities reported for the centre include educational programmes, children's activities and sports such as football, an "iCare Food Hub" community food initiative, and school visits and open events that welcome people of other faiths to learn about Islam. Friday sermons (khutbah) are delivered in English and the mosque live-streams its Jummah khutbah online via iMasjid Live.
The building offers facilities for both men and women, with a dedicated women's prayer area, and is described as wheelchair accessible (accessible entrance, parking and restroom).
