Evening Dhikr — Azkar al-Masa
We have entered the evening and the dominion belongs to Allah. All praise is for Allah. There is no god but Allah, alone, without partner. His is the dominion and His is the praise, and He is over all things powerful. The evening adhkar (Azkar al-Masa) are supplications recited after Asr prayer until Maghrib. They mirror the morning adhkar and form the second daily shield of remembrance. Imam Ibn al-Qayyim described the morning and evening adhkar as armour that the believer puts on and takes off each day.
أَمْسَيْنَا وَأَمْسَى الْمُلْكُ لِلَّهِ، وَالْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ، لَا إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا اللهُ وَحْدَهُ لَا شَرِيكَ لَهُ، لَهُ الْمُلْكُ وَلَهُ الْحَمْدُ وَهُوَ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَيْءٍ قَدِيرٌ
Transliteration
Amsaynā wa amsa-l-mulku lillāh, wa-l-ḥamdu lillāh, lā ilāha illā-llāhu waḥdahū lā sharīka lah, lahu-l-mulku wa lahu-l-ḥamdu wa huwa ʿalā kulli shayʾin qadīr.
Translation

When to recite
- Recited after Asr prayer, before sunset.
- Part of a longer set of evening supplications.
- Best completed before Maghrib adhan.
Virtues & Benefits
- Evening adhkar provide protection through the night until morning.
- Al-Mu'awwidhat (al-Falaq and an-Nas) recited three times each in the evening are a full protection for the night.
- Whoever recites Ayat al-Kursi in the evening, a guardian from Allah protects them until morning (al-Bukhari 2311).
