Dua After Eating

The Prophet ﷺ would praise Allah after completing a meal. This supplication acknowledges that food is a blessing from Allah and that humans had no strength of their own to acquire it.
الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ الَّذِي أَطْعَمَنَا وَسَقَانَا وَجَعَلَنَا مِنَ الْمُسْلِمِينَ
Transliteration
Al-ḥamdu lillāhi-lladhī aṭʿamanā wa saqānā wa jaʿalanā mina-l-muslimīn.
Translation
All praise is for Allah who fed us, gave us drink, and made us among the Muslims.

When to recite
- Immediately after completing a meal.
- Before leaving the dining table.
Virtues & Benefits
- Gratitude after eating is one of the signs of a thankful heart.
- The Prophet ﷺ said that Allah is pleased with a servant who praises Him after eating and drinking (Sahih Muslim 2734).
- Closes the meal with the remembrance of Allah, complementing the opening Bismillah.
