About Crawley Islamic Centre

Crawley Islamic Centre and Masjid (also known as the Langley Green Islamic Centre and Mosque) is a Sunni mosque in the Langley Green area of Crawley, West Sussex. The associated charity, "Crawley Islamic Centre and Masjid" (registered charity no. 274153), was registered with the Charity Commission on 25 August 1977 under a constitution adopted in April 1977, with the charitable objects of advancing the Islamic religion in Crawley and organising relief work for Muslims in need in the UK and elsewhere. It is one of the principal mosques serving the Borough of Crawley.

The mosque on the present site dates to 1984, when a bungalow at 157 London Road was converted for use as a mosque. That original building was demolished in 2012 to make way for a new, purpose-built mosque, which opened on 8 June 2014. The centre follows the Sunni Deobandi tradition and serves both male and female worshippers, with a stated capacity of around 410.

Beyond the five daily prayers and the Friday (Jummah) congregation, the centre provides Islamic education for adults and children, outreach to non-Muslims through a "Dawah" network, and evening lectures on Islamic values with question-and-answer sessions, and a women's circle that meets weekly. According to its 2024 charity accounts, it is run by a board of around ten trustees together with roughly 28 volunteers, with the stated aim of "providing Islamic services to the Muslims of Crawley and surrounding areas, promoting welfare and unity."
