About Madina Masjid (Bolton)
Madina Masjid in Bolton is one of the principal mosques serving Bolton's sizeable Muslim community. Founded in 1971 by South Asian Muslims who came to work in the Bolton cotton mills, it has grown steadily to become one of the largest mosques in the town.
The mosque hosts the five daily prayers, Friday Jumu'ah with multiple sessions to accommodate demand, Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha congregations, and taraweeh prayers throughout Ramadan. An attached madrasah provides Quranic and Islamic education for children from across the area.
Bolton has one of the highest proportions of Muslims in the North West of England, and Madina Masjid plays a central role in the community's religious and social life.
