## About Farooq-e-Azam Mosque & Islamic Centre

The mosque opened on 15 July 2017. It cost £2.2 million and took 12 years to complete, and Wikipedia describes it as able to hold up to 2,500 people. The charity running it, Farooq E Azam Mosque & Islamic Centre, has been registered as a CIO since February 2016.

In November 2022 Stockton councillors approved the mosque broadcasting the adhan once a week, on Fridays between midday and 2 PM, at an agreed volume. Wikipedia describes it as the first mosque in the North East allowed to do this. During the COVID-19 pandemic the mosque ran a vaccination clinic and outreach to counter vaccine misinformation.
