As the congregation grew, the original building was decommissioned to make way for a purpose-built mosque; construction started in 1999 and the new building was inaugurated on 18 May 2001. A small mortuary and funeral space were added at the rear in 2010, the women's washrooms were modernised and enlarged in 2022, and in 2025 the mortuary area was redeveloped as the JMIC Welfare Centre, with a community hall, kitchen and the Ilm Hub classroom.
