It later moved to Clarendon Street, where a former vicarage next to the present site served as the mosque. The current mosque was completed in 1984. It was paid for by the Muslim community and designed by Thomas Hargreaves, a lecturer at what was then Lancashire Polytechnic. Wikipedia gives the main prayer hall a capacity of about 900. The Jamea Education Academy is being built to replace the original building.
