## About Bletchley Mosque

Milton Keynes Jamee Masjid (MKJM) — historically and locally known as "Bletchley Mosque" — is the oldest mosque in Milton Keynes. According to the masjid's own materials it was established in the 1970s (its current website states 1977, while other listings drawn from the masjid date it to 1976), making it the first masjid in the city. It began as a small place of worship for the area's growing, predominantly Bangladeshi Muslim community and developed over the years into an established religious and educational institution.

The masjid grew through the acquisition of adjoining terraced houses on Duncombe Street in Bletchley; it now occupies 48-52 Duncombe Street (MK2 2LY). It is a registered charity (Charity Commission no. 1126470) governed by a board of trustees, with the stated objects of "the advancement of Islam and to cater for the provision of the religious and cultural aspects of Islam."

The mosque holds the five daily congregational prayers and Jummah, and runs a maktab/madrasah offering Qur'an, Arabic and Islamic studies for children, alongside Qur'an memorisation classes, study circles, Ramadan programmes, Eid gatherings, youth activities and lifecycle services such as nikah (marriage) and janazah (funeral) arrangements. The congregation describes itself as following Ahlus Sunnah wal Jama'ah and welcomes worshippers regardless of background or school of thought.

The masjid serves the Bletchley area of Milton Keynes and the wider local Muslim community; an imam and members frequently communicate in Bengali and English.
