The neighbouring houses at numbers 21, 23 and 27 were bought over the following years. In the early 1980s the trustees recruited Mufti Abdul Hannan, previously an imam at Kakrail Masjid in Dhaka, as imam. By 2014 the mosque reported a capacity of over 2,000 and Friday congregations of more than 1,000, and it had set up separate boys' and girls' schools.
