According to Wikipedia, construction began in 1994 and the mosque opened to the public in October 1999; the mosque's own website says building work started in 1992 and it opened in 2000. The six-storey building has a two-floor prayer hall with a women's section, classrooms, a library, a conference and wedding hall and funeral services, and it houses boarding and hifz students. Prince Charles visited the mosque in 2001.
