It was set up in response to local worshippers' difficulty finding a secure and suitable place for prayer within the vicinity. The majority of attendees are Sunni, with Barelvi, Deobandi and Ahl-e-Hadees Muslims also attending; services are delivered in English. The centre has been fundraising to refurbish and extend its premises, including the addition of a dedicated wudu (ablution) area.
