## About Crawley Mosque

Crawley Mosque, known formally as Quwat-Ul-Islam Masjed (registered charity name "Jamiat-ul-Muslemeen Quwat-ul-Islam Masjed", Charity Commission no. 284381), is a Sunni–Deobandi mosque serving the Muslim community of Crawley and the surrounding parts of West Sussex. It is registered with the UK Charity Commission, with its registration dated 12 May 1979 and its current governing constitution adopted in February 1982; its stated charitable purpose is to advance the religion of Islam through prayer facilities, an Islamic centre, community activities and Islamic education.

According to the mosque's own account, the congregation began in the early 1980s in a residential house at Fennel Crescent, Broadfield, before a purpose-built mosque was completed in 1996 on a nearby site at Broadwood Rise, funded partly by local donations. The building was substantially expanded in 2011 — described by the mosque as roughly tripling its size — to accommodate the area's growing Muslim population.

Today the mosque operates from Broadwood Rise, Broadfield, Crawley, RH11 9SE. Alongside the five daily prayers and Friday Jummah, it runs a madrasah/Islamic education programme, a dedicated sisters' (women's) section, nikah (marriage) services, and a funeral service and funeral-assurance committee for the community. It provides separate ablution (wudu) and toilet facilities for men and women.
